A Commitment to Building Better

Environmental

At Meritage Homes, we look to improve upon our environmental stewardship everyday by continuously exploring opportunities to enhance and supplement our industry-leading energy-efficient homebuilding program. Since 2009, Meritage® has been an early adopter and leader of a green mission in the homebuilding industry. Meritage was the first national homebuilder to commit to certifying 100% of our homes to the ENERGY STAR® for Homes Program, and later was the first national builder to commit to certifying 100% of our homes to the US EPA’s Indoor airPLUS Program. Additionally, all of our homes are equipped with WaterSense certified water fixtures.

The US EPA recognizes Meritage’s outstanding contributions to protect the environment through advancing energy efficiency in the homebuilding industry. Meritage Homes was first awarded the ENERGY STAR® Builder of the Year in 2011, then followed by the ENERGY STAR® Leadership in Housing in 2012. In 2021, the Company was named ENERGY STAR® Partner of the Year — Sustained Excellence the eighth time since 2013, and was the recipient of the EPA Indoor airPLUS Leader Award. Meritage has delivered more than 87,000 ENERGY STAR® certified homes since 2009.

A Commitment to Our Employees

Social: Corporate Social Responsibility

Meritage Homes’ approach to corporate social responsibility focuses on enhancing an inclusive culture, employee engagement in the workplace and care for the communities in which we live, work and operate.

Meritage Homes CEO, Phillippe Lord, signed onto the CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion pledge to advance diversity and inclusion in the workplace.

As a proud founding partner, Meritage Homes extended its sponsorship commitment to Building Talent Foundation to further its mission to advance the education, training and career progression of young people and people from underrepresented groups in residential construction.

We are proud of the diversity in our team and are committed to the ongoing and intentional work to achieve inclusive excellence, including the long-term goals of attracting diverse talent and forming strategic relationships. The company is dedicated to learning, improving its practices and challenging its employees and leaders to recognize and leverage our differences for the greater good of the team and the organization. In order to uphold our core values, we will expand our commitment to diversity, equity & inclusion (DE&I), which we believe will drive change throughout our organization as well as strengthen our business and competitiveness in the entire homebuilding sector.

A Commitment to Community

Social: Service & Philanthropy

Meritage Cares Foundation is our company’s philanthropic arm. We have committed to creating a positive impact where we live, work and build through cash contributions, in kind donations and employee volunteer efforts. We have a long legacy of supporting communities especially in times of need, from COVID-19 to natural disasters such as floods, storms and hurricanes.

Meritage Homes works with organizations like Operation Homefront, Feeding America, Americares, Boys & Girls Clubs, Ronald McDonald House Charities, HomeAid and Arizona Housing Fund. These initiatives are close to our collective hearts and provide vital support.

In 2021, in addition to contributing to education initiatives in various states in which we operate, through the Meritage Cares Foundation, Meritage donated to various nonprofit organizations to further strong DE&I missions, to help families during the holiday season in the communities in which we do business, and to support tree-planting programs. Meritage employees also donated countless hours to deliver its 14th new mortgage-free home to a deserving veteran family in Tampa, Florida through Operation Homefront.
